Isle of Palms is my favorite beach in the low country. We called it home for over a decade so know it very well.

While Charleston is a year-round destination, some seasons offer unique experiences and events. It can get very hot in the summer months. This is also when it is the most crowded.

My favorite time to visit after the rush of summer in September and October. The weather is still warm enough to enjoy the beaches but the lines are not as long when searching for your favorite dishes at restaurants.

Bring Bug Spray and Sunblock

The sun is intense in the lowcountry so make sure to bring plenty of SPF. You’ll want it whether you are on the beach or taking a walking tour through historic Charleston.

We often joke that the mosqiuto is the South Carolina state bird. Mosquitos are everywhere even in the winter so pack accordingly.

Wear comfortable Walking Shoes

You’ll be glad you are not wearing heels when walking around all of Charlestons attractions. Many of the streets in Charleston are still cobblestone which makes it easy to twist an ankle.
